Addiction Counseling

An addiction may develop any time an individual becomes dependent on a substance or activity in an effort to relieve stress, feel pleasure, or improve performance. Over time a person with addictive patterns may have difficulty controlling how often they use the substance or engage in a particular activity. Common addictions may include:

  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Gambling
  • Sex
  • Food
  • Work
  • Shopping
  • Internet

If you find that you may be using any of these substances or activities to help self–regulate or soothe difficult emotions and situations, addiction counseling may be helpful for you.

Because each person’s needs are unique, treatment may vary from harm reduction, moderation management, or abstinence. Together we can create an individualized plan to help support your needs and gain control over your life. In a safe and non-judgmental space we will uncover the sources of your addictive patterns and heal the deep-rooted problems which led to your necessary escape. Together we will discover safer ways to handle stress, difficult memories, and painful emotions.

Family Members

If someone you live with or care about is struggling with addiction I can also be of help. While the effects of addiction on family members or close friends can be devastating, it is easier to confront that reality with the support of a professional who understands it’s impact. My role is to help you identify how to approach the problem and improve the quality of your life whether your loved one chooses recovery or not.

It is by going down into the abyss that we discover the treasures of life. Where you stumble, there lies your treasure.
